Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson in 1969
This video is well worth a look as the former King speaks quite candidly in this interview. Certainly his views on the poor and unemployed people of the UK have not changed. Edward becomes quite animated and passionate still about what he thought the Government ought to have done to help ordinary people. And that Baldwin had basically done nothing to alleviate their problems in the 'Great Depression'. It is quite evident that he got these views from when he served on the Western Front during WW1 and he makes comment about that too. Finally, he argues that he was "anti-establishment" - no doubt that is why 'they' got rid of him as King.
I commend this video to you.
